Everyone knows that keeping your car running efficiently is important, but did you realise that keeping your car looking its best is just as important? Having a clean car is about more than just looks; properly washing, sealing and protecting the interior and exterior surfaces of your vehicle will actually prevent damage and will help your car help retain its value. The best way to keep your car clean and well maintained is with regular car detailing services.
What is car detailing? Here at Divine Mobile Detailing, we’ve compiled a list of the most frequently asked questions about car detailing services to help you better understand what we do and determine what it is that you need for your vehicle. Take a look, and let us know if you have any additional questions.
What is car detailing?
Car detailing is the process of cleaning and reconditioning the entire car, down to the smallest nooks and crannies, to restore it to a new or better-than-new condition. Detailing typically consists of two parts: interior detailing and exterior detailing. There are different services associated with each type of detailing, although the goal of getting your car impeccably clean is the same.
What does exterior detailing consist of?
Exterior detailing services take care of the outside of your car. The paint, windows, mirrors, tires and other exterior surfaces of the vehicle will be thoroughly cleaned, and depending on the level of service, may also be restored and sealed to prevent future damage. Premium exterior services include paint correction and restoration, premium tire/wheel polish and application of paint sealant.
What does interior detailing consist of?
The surfaces on the inside of your car are the focus on interior detailing services. The car is vacuumed, windows are washed and dashboards and other hard surfaces are thoroughly wiped down. Additional interior services include shampooing or deep steam cleaning of carpets and fabrics inside the car, leather seat conditioning, deep cleaning and decontamination of window surfaces and application of protectants to interior surfaces.
What’s the difference between a car detailer and a car wash?
While they might seem like the same thing at first glance, car detailing and a car washing are vastly different services. A car wash might consist of running your car through a generic machine with jets that spray water and brushes that abrasively remove dust and debris from your car. Car detailing, however, is a much more in-depth process done completely by hand with the care and attention of an experienced professional. Every surface of your car will be attended to and made to look new. It is a much higher level of service and as such produces much better results. Your car will be completely clean and restored from top to bottom.
Why is car detailing important?
Having your car detailed regularly is important, as it not only keeps your vehicle looking its best, it protects the vulnerable surfaces (such as paint and upholstery) from damage that comes from normal wear and tear. This helps maintain the value of your car over time.
How often should I get my car detailed?
Ideally, you should have your car detailed every four to six months as protective products such as waxes, sealants and protectants only last so long. Coming in for regular auto detail services will ensure your car is protected and will prevent future damage to your car.
Can I use automatic car washes between details?
It is not advisable to take your car to an automatic car wash, as they use brushes and other devices that can cause damage to your car. They also utilise chemicals that can strip the wax and other protective sealants placed on your car during the detail process. It’s best to come in for regular detail services to avoid any damage to your car’s exterior.
Will detailing remove every stain and imperfection?
Unfortunately, car detailing cannot remove and restore every imperfection. We try our best to remove stains and recondition surfaces, but sometimes the damage is too extreme and simply can’t be repaired through detailing. We will, however, apply wax, sealant and other protective coatings to prevent future damage to your vehicle.
Should I get my new car detailed?
Your new car might look clean, but chances are it’s been sitting in the hot sun on a dirty lot or it’s recently taken a long journey on the back of a smog-spewing truck. It’s best to have these contaminants removed by a professional detailing service right away. It’s also a good idea to give your new car the protection it deserves so that it looks new for years to come.
Can I get my old car detailed?
Yes. In most cases, older cars can be restored to nearly new condition with a high-quality auto detailing service. While there may be some damage that cannot be completely restored, your older car can definitely benefit from a thorough cleaning and detailing. Don’t hesitate to bring in a car because you think it’s too dirty or too old. At Divine Mobile Detailing, we’ve seen it all and can help get your car looking its best.
I’m selling my old car. Should I get it detailed?
Getting your car detailed before selling it is an excellent way to increase its potential value. Buyers will see the outside of the car and judge its quality before they ever give it a test drive. A freshly polished car gives the impression of quality and caring that will ensure you get top dollar when you sell.
How should I prepare my car for detailing?
Before having your car detailed, remove all personal items from consoles, dashboards and other interior areas so that they can be thoroughly cleaned. Also remove any magnets or stickers on the exterior of your car. It’s a great opportunity to go through the items you keep in your car and get rid of things that you’re carrying around unnecessarily.
How much does car detailing cost?
Car detailing services range in price from $99 to $1,000, depending on the level of service provided. There may also be additional charges for excessively dirty or oversized vehicles.
Can I detail my SUV, minivan, truck or large van?
Of course. We offer detailing services for almost every type of vehicle. If you have a large truck or van, we can certainly take care of it; however, there may be additional charges associated with the size of your vehicle.
How long does car detailing take?
Full detailing services can take between six and 10 hours to complete depending on the size and condition of the car. We can offer you a better estimate on how long it will take prior to commencing work on your vehicle.
