PREPARING YOUR CAR INTERIOR FOR WINTER

When it comes to winter weather, our cars have a lot to endure especially being in Melbourne. Sometimes it’s dry, cold air other times it’s just plain damp and wet. These conditions our cars are made to deal with can really cause some damage on interior surfaces. When this winter based damage occurs or starts to occur there are aa few main ideas every car owner can and should do.
1. Leather Care- During the winter months this is key. The cold air dries out leather surfaces and results in the finish becoming brittle or rough and cracking. Using a leather conditioner will not only prevent and treat this issue, but also helps protect against moisture on our wet and humid days, resulting in a Win-Win.
2. Carpet & Upholstery Protection- This can give you a needed edge in winter months. This seemingly basic procedure offers protection against excess moisture embedded stains and even spills. Being a car enthusiast or just liking a clean area to drive in this process will allow you to experience a better winter by not having to clean as much, and I am sure there will be compliments throughout this terrible season.

3. Rubber Floor Mats- These may not be as sightly as your factory mats, but offer a good barrier against wet and dirty shoes throughout winter. These can be found anywhere from online to your local K-Mart or auto store. This will save a lot of staining and embedded dirt you would normally have to remove come spring time.

Remember the main thing is prevention is almost always easier and better than resurrection, so protecting your interior from damage is certainly better than correcting the damage that has occurred.
